The team selector question ie was it RD or CP? has drawn much speculation but I never felt that Powell was directly told who to put in the team. I believe that if RD had been that blatant then Powell would have resigned on principle (even from his beloved Charlton). However,it has to be remembered that Powell was being required to work with players arriving that were almost certainly not on his wanted list whilst at the same time watching key members of his squad departing. I would interpret that situation as bringing Powell under significant pressure given Charlton's perilous league position. As you say there might be reasons why Powell has not been saying too much. It would be great to see him back in football, he's certainly had an eventful and bitter/sweet introduction to life as a manager. Stability is what is required for long term success and I think much of the disappointment expressed by the majority (I think it's fair to assume that) of Charlton fans lies in the fact that Chris Powell was perceived as a key part of that stability. I'm surprised that no mention has yet been made of what CP had to say on Late Kick Off on Monday about who picked the team in his spell under RD. Did you see it? It is, of course, impossible to know what the terms of his severance deal are and the impact that they might have on what he's prepared to say on TV.Brian Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-76309477657683756532014-04-02T14:26:27.056+01:002014-04-02T14:26:27.056+01:00Well done Brian G! you are clearly a superior kind...Well done Brian G! you are clearly a superior kind of soothsayer.Terry Ryallhttp://terryryall.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-22793020844506564002014-04-01T21:50:04.005+01:002014-04-01T21:50:04.005+01:00Told you so!Told you so!Brian Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-171770329716384102014-04-01T16:05:53.889+01:002014-04-01T16:05:53.889+01:00As a Charlton fan, I expect us to win 1-0 tonight ...As a Charlton fan, I expect us to win 1-0 tonight in a tight and scrappy game.Brian Gnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-48806916881999379322014-04-01T15:31:59.904+01:002014-04-01T15:31:59.904+01:00As a Leeds fan I think most of us expect Charlton ...As a Leeds fan I think most of us expect Charlton to win tonightAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
