I can probably count on the one hands the number of times I have had the pleasure of visiting the Medway towns in the last 10 years. This is a Kent derby for us.

BTW Charlton is the only team we ever see offering kids soccer schools or doing anything in our community - I don't think that the Gills see it as their territory, even though Scally used to live in Sevenoaks.

Up the Addicks!smnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-2054581602082187462009-10-24T10:34:40.723+01:002009-10-24T10:34:40.723+01:00I'm with you on this one Wyn. I do realise that we have had a long-standing Kent following and it is very welcome. My real target is Scally and his attempt to big this up as a derby of two equivalent clubs.Wyn Granthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17473299774041779419noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-60975490120569652992009-10-24T02:31:42.664+01:002009-10-24T02:31:42.664+01:00I seem to remember Charlton playing in the Kent cu...I seem to remember Charlton playing in the Kent cup, could be wrongAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329889984642264422.post-82647176623358918132009-10-23T20:03:38.809+01:002009-10-23T20:03:38.809+01:00have to take issue Wynn! Yup, Charlton is in Londo...have to take issue Wynn! Yup, Charlton is in London and is a London club - BUT our Kentish roots go back a long way - I am sure Mr Cameron will explain that all the way back to the Glikstein generation we have had a presence along the Medway. Back in the 50's when my dad was growing up just outside Maidstone he was scouted and recruited to the Charlton 'academy' - going on to make a number of reserve team appearances during the mid-50's.

The links to the Medway paper mills were good scouting grounds. There is no reason why we should cow-tow to Scally on the geography of catchment areas and neither should we ignore our immediate locale of SE7. We can be a London club with a strong Kent following. Nothing wrong with that at all.Floydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15617279850250081781noreply@blogger.com
