Charlton slump to 14th

Charlton fell out of the top half of the table following this afternoon's results, going down from 12th to 14th. As Derek from Dymchurch tweeted, 'These Belgian geezers always get found out.'

I had been planning to go to see Leamington play Barrow, the former Football League club now bankrolled by a Texan oil billionaire. However, I felt too unwell to go to the exposed New Windmill Ground and in fact the Brakes lost 0-2, ending a mini run.

My Plan B was to watch Final Score, but I fell asleep for an hour and woke up with two cats asleep on me. However, the second half saw an interesting afternoon in the Championship and elsewhere. 33 goals were scored in the Championship to add to the three scored yesterday showing that it is a highly competitive league.

Pictures showed a grim faced Pardoo as Palace lost 1-2 at home to Arsenal. 'Is the honeymoon over for Pardew?' asked the commentator. Apparently, both Arsenal's goals were dubious, the Gooners first getting a soft penalty and then scoring when offside. The Glaziers pulled one back late on and could have scored an equaliser. My heart bleeds.

Millwall drew 0-0 with Fulham. It leaves them in the relegation places and Foolham below us. 'You're going down with the Fulham,' the Brentford fans sang last week.

Tuesday's opponents, Derby County, are now top after a 3-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday who were ahead at one stage. There has recently been debate over whether there is intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, the clinching argument that there is given that it has chosen not to make contact with us. It is also said that some space aliens got the hump when they started to follow Wednesday after being told they were as massive as Jupiter.

If they wanted further proof that they were dealing with a planet full of morons, they only needed to read the press report of a police raid on an unlicensed sex cinema in New Cross where middle-aged men were reporting to be 'pleasuring themselves'. If you can face reading more about Onanistic practices near the New Den go here: Police raid

I hope that Luzon keeps the 4-4-2 formation against the Rams because we might just unsettle them when they think they will have three easy points in the bag.

  3. Yes, and I should have learnt by now that irony never works on the intent. 'Irony, irony, they've all got it in for me.' (Frankie Howerd).

  4. a2c is an idiot wind up merchant with all that mockney crap.

I don't know why Wyn allows this wind up merchant comments to be posted on his comments thread to be honest.

It should have all stopped when BBC 606 stopped and have been left there.

Charlton supporter not a wind up supporter from another club

(Cue hurt mockney outrage from a2c)

  8. a2c 'the Frankie Howard' of the comments board

  9. Yes a2frankiehoward - who tries to stoke up division between Charlton supporters - whilst insulting everyone by writing in gibberish mockney, instead of clear English.

Charlton supporter (who would like to carrying on reading Addick's Championship diary without made up gibberish mockney nonsense in the comments section)

  12. My other concern is that people reading Addicks Championship diary and the comments from a2booboyallgotinfamy is that a Charlton supporter would intentionally write in mockney illiterate gibberish. (Though they probably using a cockney translator free on the web).

Clearly it is a troll as mentioned above.Hopefully it will stop and all will be free to read Wynns blog without it.

    A hopeful Charlton supporter.
(though this will be followed by more hurt sounding rubbish from a2c)

  13. It is Wynn's blog who is in charge of it all. Wynn will decide what he wants to do.

  14. The idea is to post respond to the blog. These personal insults are inappropriate and irrelevant.

  15. Ah maybe a2c can post in plain English. See not too difficult is it ?

  17. just watched the footy league show worth a player getting on loan next year is Brentford Pritchard by far the best midfielder in the championship I would rather the club terminate buyens loan deal in the summer and brng this player I reckon with the unrest at Bretford we might have a chance of getting him play for us discuss?

  18. Wyn previously stated he is unable to remove posts from here, or block posters. I recall this was in relation to JA before he started taking his medication.

  19. Alex Pritchard is on loan at Brentford from Tottingham. I suspect making an offer to Brentford at the end of the season will prove fruitless.

  21. I don't think personal abuse of that nature is appropriate. He wasn't posting any offensive language. If that's the sort of reaction aimed at another poster and it's condoned, I will not contribute on here in future.

  22. I've apologised to you Mark, it wasn't a condoned action and if you had been and still were following this blog you would understand more. This troll was often very offensive, although he didn't swear. This has been a pleasant blog for a long time, you must do whatever you must do. It makes no difference to anyone but you.

  23. How do you know he was a troll, do you know him personally anon? He seemed like a Charlton fan to me and making that sort of assumption not based on any evidence is in itself offensive to me - as well as the expletives. I work with people with different kinds of language issues and dyslexia. Oh well all too easy to make assumptions but the owner of this site doesn't appear to embrace inclusivity.

  24. There do have to be some limits, e.g., I have deleted a post using a four letter words. I don't think this was a case of dyslexia. Charlton fan or not, they were using 'Mockney', probably through a translation device, in a way that made their points difficult to follow. They were apparently also on the BBC 606 site at one time and have now appeared on another Charlton site.

  25. I didn't say just dyslexia but language issues and some people do post how they speak. Many young people post in text speak these days and I see it on some Charlton message boards, would you ban them too? Banning someone who is not using offensive language or personal abuse aimed at others seems very heavy handed to me but that's obviously how you run your site - bow to the lynch mob.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lynch mob is very pejorative terminology. I had complaints from a number of regular users of the site who said they were offended. I can't actually ban anyone, but it is the first time I have removed posts and I would only do it is a last resort. I think it's a question of taking complaints seriously rather than being heavy handed. But you can't please everyone and there are plenty of other Charlton sites for people to use.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In this case it isn't when you've got a baying group or mob all attacking one individual aiming personal abuse at that one person whilst ignoring offensive language from others - you've deleted the comments so I can't quote selectively. But hey ho I always try and defend the rights of others to free speech or freedom of self expression as long as it's not personal abuse, racist, homophobic etc which none of his posts were, to me that's where you draw the line. Still it's your blog and you're right there are plenty of others which obviously in view of this incident I will feel far more comfortable using in the future.

  28. As far as posting in text speak is concerned, that's fine when young people are talking to each other, but not in a public space. There is a limit to the time and effort I want to spend being a moderator, as this is not a board but a blog with a comment function.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Texting is used in a public space and many boards start with threads which are similar to blogs and comments are posted. The number of times I've seen text speak but thankfully it's not deleted. I have to give young people credit for communicating in that way on mobiles.

It's still ok to leave the personal offensive abuse up though - see above

  30. I will try and take it down, although it may be too late. There's only so much time I can spend policing comments.

  31. Looks as if it is too far back to delete, although repeating it doesn't help.

  32. Neither does not deleting it, the word beginning with H springs to mind.
