Chris Powell to return to League 1?

Speculation is linking Chris Powell with the vacancy at Wolves. Apparently the local paper, the Express and Star is going to run a story on the interest that Wolves have later today. This is one of the most reliable sources on football stories in the Midlands which suggests that Wolves might have an interest, which is reasonable enough, given that Sir Chris has secured a promotion from League 1. Wolves might also think they are a bigger club than Charlton, having recently splashed out not far short of £20m on a new stand.

I cannot see Sir Chris wanting to return to League 1 and face the anger of Wolves fans if promotion is not secured at the first attempt. However, given what appear to be the financial constraints at The Valley, the right offer might tempt him and some sources have indicated that the door is open should he wish to leave. Fortunately, there is currently not a vacancy at Leicester. Reports appeared on Twitter that Pearson has been sacked, but the local newspaper denies this: Pearson

Correspondents from the Black Country think that the Express and Star is not a reliable source and the Shropshire Star is, I think, a sister paper. What they are saying about the story makes some sense, but I admit that it could all be journalistic speculation: Chris Powell

Dorian Dervite has signed a deal to stay at The Valley: Dervite

The E&S are not the most reliable sources of football in the area! They spout rubbish most of the time.

THINK they are a bigger club. we don't THINK at all WE KNOW.

" We don't think at all " how true. Smashing up your own ground is a good example of that. The appointment of Saunders is another and so is the signing the oik that Hunt. Oh well, at least Wolves fans can watch the League One action from the new stand. Oh, how I wish Charlton was as big as Wolves.

yes you would love to be as big as Wolves but you need to have an history in the game - not a club nobody has heard of.
Do you mean the training box got damaged when you say the GROUND got smashed up?
Venture north of Watford to find out the truth

Seems strange to me how all the fans that call their club "big" say that from the 1st division, why there was even a "massive" club there last season, dream on.

Wolves.....I guess they were a big club ....In the 1950's

Perhaps they should re appoint Stan Cullis......

I bet Mick Mc Carthy is absolutely
rolling in fits of laughter now.

I've no idea who is bigger - how is it measured? Even if Wolves are bigger, they are in the Third Division, with a shocking record of board room ineptitude and great need to get rid of overpaid players. Hardly tempting, is it? Also, Wolverhapton and London don't bear much comparison.

None the less, I'd give Chris Powell a contract at CAFC for life, as someone credible will come for him sooner or later.
