The CAS Trust have taken a detailed look at the club's finances and suggest that the club's losses this season will be £4.5m, a reduction of 25 per cent. Financial fair play rules and the spending model imply a budget for players of £3m, which is not a lot and essentially means loans. They detect a new atmosphere of transparency in relation to club finances and one has to hope that they are right. However, whether this will tempt Mr Prothero out to meetings with fans remains to be seen. It is also doubtful whether transparency will extend to ultimate ownership, long-term strategy or asking price, although the latter necessarily has to be confidential.
