22 year old Niklas Andersen is a former German U20 international from Werder Bremen and has been brought in on trial.
He is of Norwegian descent although born in Germany. He is the son of former Norway international footballer and Bundesliga top scorer Jørn Andersen. His career in the German youth system was disrupted by following around his father who is a coach in Germany.
He will feature in the Crown Berger cup at Welling and travel to Spain with the team.

His career was also disrupted due to a series of injuries for long periods over the last couple of seasons. Not played much football at all since 2009.
I have looked him up on some German websites.
He is the son of Jörn Andersen who was the topscorer of the German Bundesliga in 1990, the first foreign player to be the German topscorer. So there are some good genes!
He has also played twice for the German U-20 team and has played regularly for Werder Bremen`s second team (which is in the German Third Division).
He would only be the second German Charlton player after Dietmar Brück who played for Charlton around 1970. Do you remember anything about him, Wyn? There seems to be nothing on the internet about him.

this reminds me of a time in 1979/80 season when there was some excitement about the signing of two danish players Jaacobsen and Ostergaard. It was thought it would the be the start of a new era with overseas players but unfortunately they did not really manage to settle into the english league
Unfortunately, I don't know much about Bruck: I think this was around the time I was living in Exeter and out of touch as news arrived there in those days only by the telegraph or carrier pidgeon. Or if there was any Charlton news, it wouldn't be in the Express & Echo which offered endless coverage of the mighty Grecians. I will see what I can find out.
I remember Bruck, or at least I know he was playing in games I watched. He always seemed immaculately turned out, with hair well Brylcreamed, but the fact I can't remember anything about his playing abilities suggests he didn't exactly set the world on fire for us.
Dietmar was a tough tackling right back who Im fairly sure we signed from Coventry.
