Thuram Ulien refuses to go to Leeds

Back up goalkeeper Yohan Thuram-Ulien has refused to travel to Leeds for tonight's crucial match, not because he doesn't like it 'oop North but because he has the hump because of a lack of first team chances at Charlton, reports Richard Cawley of the South London Press: Keeper

The reason he has not had more first team chances is because he disappointed when he did. It is not very professional conduct. Nick Pope cannot be recalled from York, so we have to hope that Hamer takes the warm up cautiously.

Well, some good news at last, but it's not going to improve RD's standing with a lot of fans.

It will be interesting to see how CAFC deals with Thuram's refusal to travel to Leeds. It is almost certainly a breach of contract and it would be a disgrace if he were allowed to represent Charlton ever again. If it wasn't so serious it would actually be quite funny (and I'll confess Brian G to a quiet chuckle when I read your comment!) but, sadly, I think it serves to demonstrate yet again that CAFC have not been well served by those aspects of RD's network strategy that he has so far implemented. "One-way ticket back to Liege please my good man, merci"

Sorry, I didn't mean to post the above twice!

Never mind - it emphasised a very good point. I do not remember such behaviour since Flanagan would not play with Killer. Not very Charlton.

Thanks MH for your kind words! Funnily enough I had been wondering who might have been involved the last time such an incident occurred at Charlton so thanks for that as well. How we could do with Flanagan and Hales right now. And I quite agree not very Charlton at all.

I thought this was an April Fool at first!

He needs to be on his way.

Perfect justification to sack him off back to belgium for breach of contract - no way that can be described as interpretation of how good he isn't. As back up Dillon Phillips is better anyway, if Hamer got injured then Pope could probably be recalled.

didn't Paul Miller refuse to play for Lennie back in the early
90's?

Vague recollection....

Lets call this what it is though, a petulant player who may have been promised a bigger chance by the new owner. Even so, he has to recognise his own erratic form and the truly brilliant form of the guy he's trying to replace.. seen the Leeds hi-lites on youtube. Amazing!

Well said, Matthew Blake. He's looked a liability from the start but he must have been promised something to come over. I haven't seen any further news in the press. Does anyone know what action the club has taken?
