Riga's Blackpool hell

Former Charlton manager José Riga has given an in depth interview with The Guardian about his experiences at Blackpool: Jose Riga

Despite the experience, he would like the chance to manage in England again. Karl Oyston meanwhile continues to run Blackpool into the ground. Whatever Roland's faults, there are far worse owners around.

I think it's an absolute travesty what Riga had to go through. He's not only a good coach but a thoroughly decent bloke. He's proved that by keeping his dignity despite some of the nonsense spouted by Karl Oyston.

The one saving grace is that I don't think he's damaged his reputation too much - as the article rightly points out I don't think any coach in the world would've fared much better in those ridiculous circumstances. I hope Jose is back in work soon with a club that deserves him..

Well said, Anon 10.42. I was really impressed by what he did for us and how he did it. Why, o why, did he ever get involved with Oyston?
