Benno puts his case

Paul Benson has put his case for a place in the team on Saturday whilst heaping praise on Chris Powell in the Sub-Standard: Benno

Gary Doherty is out for at least a couple of weeks with a muscle injury: Doherty

Whether this is a 'blow' as the News Shopper describes it is a matter of opinion, although perhaps it is when you look at the alternatives. Chris Powell is rightly cautious about who will replace him on Saturday, particularly after what was apparently an unimpressive performance by Jon Fortune on Tuesday night.

It may be a case of step forward, Miguel Llera. Steve from Petts Wood saw him storming away from The Valley when he was not even on the bench one Saturday, but although the Spainard is error prone, he is also capable of scoring from set pieces. And he is probably more mobile than Fortune.

How bad must it be for Llera. Fortune looked absolutely s*** and slow when he came on for the Doc (who is also very slow)
Surely the Spaniard must be given the nod.
As for the middle of the park..........it looks hopeless but I would rather see some youngsters with energy and effort than the so called star players. I will probably leave early if McCormack gets a game. So will we let Tranmere play us off the park, I sincerely hope not. Just get stuck in guys and don't be so fragile on the ball.

Why not play Matt Fry centre back with Dailly? He's primarily a centre back anyway. Or Llera, I would play either ahead of Fortune who's been awful since we got him back in my opinion.

I agree with all your comments except one
Mccormack MUST play . True , he is useless , but he shores up the midfield a little bit and its imposiible to get a result with Racon there , our midfield becomes completely porous and the opposition run through us at will

If SCP feels he has to play Racon for some invention , he should play him for the last 15/20 minutes when the opposition are knackered and he isn't ( hopefully!)

I've been hoping for a change in the central defence position for a while now and although I voted him player of the year last year I was hoping it was dailly.
What I never really thought about was its more than likely that fortune is going to be the replacement.
I cant believe how fortune has deteriorated into such an awful centre half since he was last with Charlton as he used to be such a steady player at the highest level.

I agree with a previous comment about fry think its definitely worth a gamble as I reckon he would be quality centrally instead of looking out of place on the left. Llera is prone to a mistake and I have moaned at him so many times but would still prefer him to play then fortune. Two games with dailly fortune combination, Swindon 4-1 loss, Exeter 3-1 loss, Now the pattern suggests the next time it will be either a 2-1 loss or 5-1 loss I wouldn't like to gamble.
