Skipper stays

Johnnie Jackson has signed a two year contract extension with the club. He may not be the fastest player on the pitch, but he has an eye for goal and is a stalwart of the side. This also suggests that some of the wilder speculation about Roland's intentions is wide of the mark.

The skipper said, 'For me there is no better place to be and as long as the club will have me I'll be happy to stay.'

Respond to survey on the decision here (this is a new experiment): Survey

Is this a joke he is well past his best, he has only performed in a couple of games this season and his speed is getting slower and slower! Surely we should have been out and out trying to get Poyet to sign, maybe they are looking to Division 1!!!!!!!

Judging from the first comment, it seems that you just can't please some people. I thought that it was some good news at last.

Agree with the first post to a certain extent but you do need some experience in the squad and he can probably cut in League 1.

He may be slow but he is generally in the right place. He is the heartbeat of our team and club. All those people that bleat on about Yann having left and what a talisman he was are right, but was he more of a talisman than Jacko, captain fantastic that has come up with more winning goals than anyone else I can think of. Players come and go and so unfortunately do legends, but we and our club are constant. Stop moaning and get behind the team. Tomorrow is big.

The new board simply cannot win with some people. They are the evil Charlton Changers one minute and now they are shelling out to keep the skipper and maintain some consistency they are blasted for that! Unreal.
