Curse of Charlton strikes early

Gobby Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has resigned ahead of the Bluebirds visit to The Valley. Many managers go after losing at Charlton, but Warnock has decided to get his resignation in early.

The Currant Bun is linking Lee Bowyer with the vacancy, but this is just lazy journalism.

Richard Cawley of the SLP has tweeted, 'Word from the Cardiff City end is that they expect to appoint either Lee Bowyer or Neil Harris within the next 72 hours.' Louis Mendez responded, 'Pass my congratulations onto Neil Harris on his new job.'

In a later tweet, Richard Cawley has said 'After a spot of checking, I don't believe there has been any contact from Cardiff for Lee Bowyer.' Welsh sources are also saying that Neil Harris is the favourite with the former Millwall boss having already signed up for Welsh lessons. Should Harris be appointed, his first match will be at The Valley.

One well connected fan has commented, 'Bowyer was approached by Huddersfield but didn't fancy it, think Cardiff are a better proposition for him. I hope he doesn't go but I think there is a chance.'

Roland should offer him a long-term contract, unfortunately not much chance of that.
