Ashley Maynard-Brewer shows he has what it takes

Ashley Maynard Brewer put in a stunning performance in goal when Charlton's under 23s won 1-0 at Bromley. However, he is unlikely to have many opportunities to display his skills at a higher level this season and a loan could be on the cards at some point.

He did brilliantly to deny Frankie Raymond and Luke Coulson on the half hour with successive point blank saves before doing even better to prevent Michael Cheek scoring from a toe poke a minute later.

In the second half he excellently tipped Coulson's header over the crossbar. Charlton posed a threat on the break and Toby Stevenson saw his drive from the edge of the 18 yard box deflected narrowly wide of the post.

Bush was judged to have fouled Jay Mingi in the penalty area and Vennings made no mistake from the spot.

Maynard-Brewer has now signed a new two year contract deal with the club: Extends stay until 2021
