Pardew's secret weapon

It's the biggest thing to hit South-East London since the V-2, yes it's Super Alan Pardew's secret weapon, Martyn Waghorn:
Waghorn

Quite what going 'straight into the squad' means is an interesting question, possibly a bench warming role and then coming on in the 70th minute when we are 1-2 down.

The Wikipedia entry on him can be found here. He seems to have a record of debuts in matches which the team he is playing for lose 0-4 or 0-5:

Ah! the long awaited loan signing/s. Leaves me totally underwhelmed!
Is he better than Dickson, Fleetwood or McCleod? (Difficult to be worse than McCleod i guess)
Let's hope so!

Must be a distant relation of Steve Waggott !

One of the things that a loanee is supposed to do is lift the spirits of the other players.I fail to see how this signing will do that.

When Pards said he had to wait until the Carling Cup matches had been played I thought we were getting one of the Arsenal kids.

Waghorn is totally unproven & hasn't even figured in the lower leagues on loan.

Has Pards lost his marbles?

Its yet another completely pointless loan . What will Varney, Mcleod , Dickson , Fleetwood think ( gosh , I must be completely useless if this kid plays ahead of me )
Perhaps we'll have him for a couple of weeks before we re-loan him out to someone else.
Bonkers !!!!!!!!!!!!

Saw him play against the youth team in the FA Youth Cup last year - scored a good goal - but Yado Mambo looked at least his equal - and what is he doing when we are short of centre backs?

I guess this means that Varney and probably Mcleod are leaving in the Jan window, otherwise even Pards would realise that its yet another pointless loan. The kid says he is coming to get 1st team time . Its just unbelievable bearing in mind the strikers we already have unless they are going to unload
Maybe a struggling Prem club like WBA might fancy Varney & ZZ as a package , that would be a big load off the wage bill

FYI: This kid isn't just any old youngster, he's been very highly touted for some years in the North East, hence he was given a Prem debut against Chelsea. He could be a hit, lets give him a chance because the word is this kid could be a star one day. Thats no guarantee he'll succeed with us but do you really want to continue with the status quo?
