Richard Cawley of the SLP has tweeted, 'Bit of talk about Jordan Archer to Charlton. Believe he was offered to them earlier in the summer but the Addicks have other goalkeeper targets. Not a goer.'
He was a Charlton youth player and was released by Millwall at the end of last season after 144 appearances.
Richard Cawkey has confirmed that Andy Marshall has sorted a new deal with Charlton. The goalkeeping coach had travelled to Marbella with the squad last week. All the backroom team sorted contractually now.
There was some surprise that Leamington captain and keeper Tony Breeden was not at the Phillips 66 Community Stadium for the opening game against Coventry City's first team on Saturday, given that the game attracted a bumper crowd and Sky Sports cameras were there to broadcast updates.
Rumours swept the ground that Breeden, known as the Sam Batram of non-league football for his outfield play ('Tony Breeden on the wing') and goal scoring exploits, was away with a league club. Breeden scores: Unfortunately not his penalty scored against Wolves
However, it turned out that the barmy balding binman had gone to a wedding (his own).
