Gray challenges a future team mate when Burnley played Charlton at The Valley
Burnley have reluctantly agreed to the transfer of striker Andy Gray to Charlton. A Pards target for some time, he is now travelling to The Valley to agree personal terms. The basic fee will be £1.5m but could reach £2m with add ons:
Gray
He is the son of the former Scotland defender Frank Gray and nephew of Leeds United legend Eddie Gray. He has been capped twice for his native heath. He started his career as a midfield player but later moved into a forward position. He has had two stints in the Premiership, including one at Sunderland.

I am not convinced by the quality of Gray nor whether we really need him. He failed in the Premiership with Sunderland and this season has only 4 more goals than Zheng and Iwelumo.
This story gets more confusing by the minute! Apparently, we've now signed him on 'emergency loan' whatever that is?
Perhaps we looked in the till and found we had no money!!!!!
This is a device to enable him to play today. I note a lot of critical comment from the Addickted, but let's trust Pards' judgment and give him a chance.
I'm not sure how this can be classed as an "emergency" loan, but if it is a loan deal that's great! I just wasn't convinced by the £2m asking price, that's all.
I'm happy to give him a chance Wyn. But who's going to be the fall-guy for him? I suspect it will be Dickson who hasn't been given a chance. Whilst the waste of space called McCleod will be in the squad!
I think McLeod will be the one to miss out (whether or not we are able to sell him on). I don't care if Gray's not good enough for the Premiership, we can't afford to think like that. The signing reminds me of Jim Melrose coming in at the right time. He added impetus and the goals that took us to promotion.
Let's hope it is McLeod. Gray could well be on the bench.
