Why Zabeel dropped out

Interesting report from Reuters on why Zabeel pulled out of the Charlton deal:
Zabeel

I do quite a lot of work for Reuters and I am always impressed by the professionalism of their journalists so I would regard this report as at least representing an accurate representation of what Zabeel want to be known in public.

The club web site going down yesterday prompted speculation that some sort of dramatic announcement was imminent, but the only news appears to be that we have tried out an out of contract centre back from Southampton in the reserves. Any port in a storm.

However, some normally reliable sources have been quieter than usual. This is just speculation on my part, but Pards may have been given a final warning to sort it out over the next three matches. 'Sort it out Pardew!' never has the resonance of 'Sort it out Curbishley!'

Wyn, the Rueters report suggest that Zabeel didn't like the media attention they were getting, but that should have been as no surprise. Nor was the global economic situation.

I can only surmise that once the media heat was on they found the spotlight uncomfortable for other reaons (skeletons).

Or more probably it is all shoemakers, and they are waiting for the price of clubs to plummet in the wake of credit crunch, and then pick up a bargain. Not ruling themselves out of buying a club in future tells me they changed their minds and are waiting for the dust to settle before bidding for another club.

Website is down to announce that Darren Moore has signed a 3 month deal...or Derek Hales is gonna make another shite prediction!

The story about concerns over the UK economy was clearly rubbish however - given Big Brother's subsequent investment in Barclays.

Chappell said that it was Zabeel that wanted us to announce to media. Think it shows a lot of naivety on their part.
