Addicks chase Shrimper

Charlton are reportedly locked in a battle with Huddersfield for the services of 27-year old Southend defender Peter Clarke. Southend would like to retain him, but do not think they can match the wages on offer at The Valley.

Clarke, who has made 150 appearances for the Shrimpers since signing from Blackpool in a £300,000 deal three years ago, impressed at the heart of the defence last term and was voted player of the season by both the supporters and his fellow team-mates.

Glaziers boss Warnock is delighted at the 'capture' of out of contract Darren Ambrose from The Valley: Coup

Ambrose is not without talent, but he has more fundamental flaws in his game tham the need to play 'with a smile on his face'. But perhaps the chance to get some Nectar points at Sainsbury's will do the trick.

Ambrose going to Palace is probably the only good thing thats happened to me as a Charlton fan for the past 3 years. He is absolutely totally useless and if Warnock can get anything out of him , he ought to be the next Man U manager. With only 10 men on the pitch ( particularly in away games) its guaranteed Palace another season of mid table champ or with luck an unsuccessful relegation battle . Dazza does lots of those .............

Neil Warnock fancies himself as getting the best out of under-performing players, but even his "skills" will be hard pushed to make anything of Ambrose. A silk purse from a sow's ear me thinks. On the bright side, he may assist in their demise next season, and we get shot of a hefty expense.

Ambrose is awful. No pace, no skill, no heart, no desire, no passion and poor at set pieces. At last a good liece of news for the Charlton faithful, lets hope he drags Palace down to our current level next year.
