Chelsea have joined the race for the signature of Jonjo Shelvey. What is particularly attractive about their interest is that they would be prepared to loan him back to Charlton for a season or even two.
However, West Ham and Spurs are also in the face and Shelvey himself is thought to favour a move to White Hart Lane.

If he goes I really hope we get top dollar for him...for many of our players we are in a weak bargaining position however with Shelvey I would imagine there will be plenty of competition for his signature and with new rules regarding the number of English players in Champions League squads surely all of the top 4 will be sniffing around.
In Glen Johnson we have already seen what can happen to a players price if you can get a couple of the bigger teams interested.
£5M plus add ons as a minimum I would say (afterall Walcott was not much older and had not played many games for Southampton when they sold him for £12M?). This would allow the club to pay down a healthy amount of their debt and hopefully, whilst not out of the woods it would put us back on a more stable footing again.
It is likely Shelvey will be the last player we are able to sell for really big money for some time so I really hope the Board get this right.
I doubt whether we would get £5m given that clubs see that cash flow is the name of the game for us. £3m plus some good add ons seems more realistic.
I imagine that coming from Romford, he may support West Ham and that combined with Zola's eagerness to play youth would lure him through the Blackwall tunnel
I hope not though. I'm greedy so want him to stay forever.
