Leamington go 4th after beating bogey team

Leamington went into the play off places in the Zamaretto Premiership last night after beating bogey team Stourbridge 2-1 at the New Windmill Ground last night. The Glassboys were on top in the first half hour and looked like shattering Leamington but two great saves from on loan Leicester City keeper Carl Pentney kept them in the game. His quality showed throughout the game and it is hoped that he will stay until the end of the season.

Brakes got back into the game in the last quarter of an hour and at half time it was 0-0. It was Stourbridge that scored first but Brakes went up the other end and responded within a minute. James Husband then scored the winner on 69 minutes.

There are two types of referees at this level, young up-and-coming ones who are often very good and older ones who have reached their level of incompetence. We had one of the latter type tonight. He disallowed two Leamington goals. What is wrong with this one in particular? Goal

The goal was disallowed for offside against a player who is not in the frame. Whether or not the decision was correct is impossible to determine from the video. I would make the general point that the offside law as currently applied almost invariably makes the officials look stupid. It is a bad law and should be changed.
