Dons want Addicks in cup

AFC Wimbledon, currently top of the Blue Square Premiership, would like to play Charlton in the FA Cup: Dons

This is not because they see us as a pushover, but because we are perceived as a big club at lower division level, which we are in terms of attendances - although I would question how many fans would want to pay to see us play a non-league side when it could all end in tears.

One fan remarked half jokingly to me on Saturday that we now ought to concentrate on the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. But the away fixture to Southend will not be easy.

I'm not going to write about the 'Parkinson out' campaign at the moment. All I would say is that I expect Parkinson to stay.

I had a bad sporting weekend (leaving aside the Brakes winning away in the FA Trophy) as Coventry Blaze lost 2-5 at home to Cardiff Devils and one Coventry player had to go to hospital after a particularly nasty fight on the rink.

It was interesting, however, to see the reaction to the defeat. No one called for the coach's head. But the coach did give the players a public blasting and made it very clear that they had to sharpen up. One concern about Parky is whether he has a tough enough streak.

He had it in his playing days, so hopefully he'll show it in management.

On reflection on Saturday's peformance a worry was our shape, when an attack inevitably broke down, seemed to be confusion as to who should be where...

Both good points. I certainly agreed that our completely loss of shape on Saturday was a big worry, although that was partly because we didn't seem able to cope with the short passing game used by Brighton and their diamonds. The fundamental problem seems to be with the midfield, although hoofing long balls doesn't give them much chance to come into the game.

Hi there,

I hope you are well and don't mind me getting in touch.

I work for Betfair affiliates and we are currently looking to recruit new partners.

As your site ranks well on Google I am keen to get you on board and due to the exclusive commission offer we are running this month I feel this could be profitable for you.

If you would like any more information on this please get in touch at stef.oates@betfair.com.

Thanks
Stef

i think it's clear that we could do with a better passing midfielder than Racon to partner with Semedo. These are not easy to come by though (or cheap). In my view sacking Parkinson would be a mistake. Expectations of this team are unreasonably high in my opinion, and rooted in history rather than assessed by the limitations Parky has had to work within. We need to improve and I believe we will but it is not the crisis it is being presented as by many in the blogosphere. It was a bad-loss and we are lacking form, but a top-6 place (which I believe was a realistic ambition - i.e. it would have been too much to expect us to win the title) is by no means now beyond our reach. As always negativity amongst the Addickted is a burden to the team at home.

Well, not much point then, as we've spent our remaining overdraft on the Essex boys, McCormack, Francis and Benson. Let's hope no one tells them what the thames barrier is really for.

We needed a right-back and a striker desperately and we made a net profit on both from the sale of Richardson. McCormack was a free and will play games this season, we have a small squad as it is. So I think it's unfair criticism. What it does illustrate though is the very tight constraints PP has been under, when you think there are clubs in Blue Square Prem (i.e. Crawley Town bought Brodie for 300k I think) that have had more to spend on players.
