Poyet on his way

The club has announced that Diego Poyet will not be reporting for pre-season training at Charlton as he wishes to explore his options elsewhere: Poyet

This is not a great surprise and it remains to be seen what compensation will be available. A figure of £600k has been mentioned, but that seems to be on the high side.

I am disappointed with him. The fans love him and he has a real opportunity to develop into a top player but his career could stall if he goes to a Premiership club and sit on the bench! He has not shown any loyalty and the club has done a lot for him. He has obviously been tapped up.

Like all Charlton fans, I too am disappointed but he can't be blamed for wanting to move on upwards in the game. Which of us hasn't changed jobs for more money and better prospects? However, if he is going to Chelsea, as is strongly rumoured, then I'm disappointed for him. A similar move made Parker lots of money but certainly did stall his career. As regards loaning him out, he'd probably go to Chelsea's reserves at Vitesse Arnhem.
