After their defeat of Millwall earlier in the week, Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has urged his players to return to South London tomorrow without any fear: Be Brave . The win at Millwall was their first in nine games in all competitions.
This is not because he underestimates Charlton. Rather than the usual 'easy three points' line from the opposition, exemplified by the Norwich paper which Bob Peeters used as a motivational tool, Clark said after the win at Norwich that a tough match had got tougher.
Charlton will be without Tal Ben Haim because of Yom Kippur which is a major religious festival. Michael Morrison is likely to step into his place. Some Addicks have expressed concern about his match sharpness or whether he can play out from the back as the present style requires. However, he has been a solid and reliable defender for us and I have confidence in him.
Gudmundsson is still out and Joe Gomez has picked up an injury.
Our record against the Blues at home has not been good. Last year we lost 0-2 at home, a result that followed a 1-1 draw in the preceding year. Odds are Charlton, evens; draw, 11/5; Blues, 11/5.

Hi Wyn,
I have every confidence in MM too! Why in addition to what you said. JJ's comment 'the valley pitch didn't allow the team to play from the back last season'.
Fair enough! not the players fault. It was a really rubbish pitch and not the fault of the groundsmen either.
Match fitness is another matter, but sure he'll do ok. Good player with all that experience behind him.
Hope A-Grant gets 30 mins. 2-1 Dream ON.
Sorry disagree about MM he is a hoof it up man and also quite slow, I think he will be our weak link as he is not used to the quick passing on the ground. Wish Gomez hadn't been injured as I am positive he would have partnered Bikey!
Michael Morrison weak link? you obviously haven't been much for the last couple of years because he's been our Player of the Year close on both.
Anonymous 2 is clearly mistaken. Hoofer and Slow are 2 words I would not associate we MM ever! Must be confusing him with Miguel Lera.
Yeah, he also seems loyal and not the type to throw his toys out of the pram when not in the side. Hope he stays and gets a really loud welcome back. How good does a player who can't get in the side on a regular basis have to be then??? He's championship quality player. As the captain said, they couldn't play out from the back=hoof it long.
Peeter's is backing him and MM would have been training with the first eleven ever since BP took over adapting to BP's new methods. If he had any doubts I'm sure he would have got another centre half in or shuffled his pack again.
