Boro In For Shelvey

According to the Currant Bun Middlesbrough have offered £2m for Charlton starlet Jonjo Shelvey. Earlier in the week Fulham were reported to be interested. Hopefully we could get more than £2m.

Remember we will be the only Charlton blog bringing you coverage this afternoon from Leamington v. Soham Town Rangers. Manager Jason Cadden is under pressure after Brakes dropped points at home for the first time this season on Tuesday, drawing 3-3 with fourth placed Leighton Town.

Brakes are twelve points clear at the top of the BGB Midlands Division, but mutterings have already started at the New Windmill Ground about whether Cadzy can take the club to the next level. Sound familiar?

Perhaps i have it wrong but i thought an under seventeen player cannot sign professionaly, and can go to any club for no fee other than a 'small' compensation for the parent club.

Daggs £2mil would indeed be small compensation for uncovering and developing someone of his talent.
Sadly Charlton isn't in a position to refuse any such offer. Hopefully it is just paper/agent puff. If it isn't, dare we hope that Jonjo and his advisors show some sense/loyalty and decide to stay put for now?
But let's stay positive - if he's tempted/manipulated away: the proceeds are put to excellent use; a couple of real improvements are recruited, who contribute to a steady rise to 21st place by May and Tier2 safety.

I'm thinking back to the Defoe incident, when Harry lured him away for nothing. Although Charlton did win a compo. case eventually.

Cancel my Valley Gold if he goes

"Hopefully we can get more than 2 mill???????" 16 years old????? Hopefully he can stay and play for the team that has developed him until he is at least a man. Footy is becoming more and more screwed up every year and this is not because my team is going to be relegated to div 3. 500 grand a week for a player? Accepting that it would be good for a kid to be poached for 2 mill. Bcaddick.

Cancel what I said earlier if Jonjo has a shred of self-belief or ambition he should take the first bus out of Charlton. As soon as anyone makes any sort of offer he should gladly take it and not look back. Spending any longer with that poisonously, cynically underachieving rabble will only serve to ruin him and his career. Good luck JS if you get to visit the Valley in an unlikely cup tie in the future maybe there will be one or two hardy souls who will remember your lucky escape and will applaud you warmly. Get out lad, you know it makes sense.
