It's a good time to remember the great players of Charlton's past and for those of you on Facebook I have set up an Eddie Firmani Appreciation Society.
Combined with your Cardiff memories and Eddie, in 1963/4? when John Charles played centre half for Cardiff against Eddie Firmani which if I remember we won 2-0. A clash of two giants, and even in those days the build up to the clash was big. The oher link to Cardiff and the current winter weather was the much postponed cup game in 1963 which was finally played in March? Len Glover scoring in the 61st minute in a 1-0 win. The 61st minute remains a magical time. To this day my friend and I who were there then and still sit next to eachother and when hoping for a goal still rate the 61st minute as something special.
It was played on 18th February 1963, having been originally scheduled for January 5th. Sorry to spoil your memory, but the records show that Glover scored in the 78th minute.
