Peeters to be confirmed as coach

Bob Peeters is to be announced as Charlton head coach this week: Peeters

Like many Charlton fans, I would have liked José Riga to be given a chance to see what he could do under less pressured circumstances. I thought that he was a class act in many respects.

I am a bit underwhelmed by his replacement, but I am reluctant to condemn him before we have even had a practice match. I hope that he succeeds as coach. There has been some interesting speculation about possible English candidates, but the choice was bound to be a Belgian.

If JR goes to Fulham (or even Brum) we mayu find out what he can do (and may regret giving him the opportunity).

It appears Riga wasn't given the job as he was not a yes man!
Looks like Petters is, as why else would RD have appointed him with his previous record.
W 6 D 13 L 11 came 3rd from bottom with the lowest number of goals scored. In some bizarre play off with similar clubs at the end of the season came bottom with only one win.
Previous club was sacked after 11 games with no wins, sounds just like the manager we want!
It looks like he is no better a manager than his playing carrear for Millwall, no wonder they are laughing at us!

I can't say that I'm not very disappointed but, as Wyn says, we've got to give him a chance. I wonder what Diego Poyet will do now?

Yes, we need to give him a chance but his record in management is not very good to date. You have to really question RD's intentions to move our club forward. RD needs a manager who will basically do what he says and play sub-standard liege players and fill the team with youth that he will hopefully be able to sell at a profit!
