Following a pitch inspection at The Valley, it has been confirmed that the cup game with Oxford United has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. An Oxford United tweet suggests that it may be held next Wednesday, but I have no confirmation of that.` For those of us who travel some distance, it is better to know in advance, rather than when we have already paid for a train ticket and are en route. However, I doubt whether I would be able to make a Tuesday evening game because of work commitments.
Meanwhile, Rick Everitt has set out a forceful critique of the decision to close the East Stand for the game, arguing that the claimed cost savings do not stack up and that the decision has reduced revenue: East Stand. Interesting points made by Rick Everitt. I'm and East Stand season ticket holder, but in the past have relocated to the upper north for cup matchs , and enjoyed the experience of a different view of a match. I wouldn't choose to sit in the lower north because the view isn't as good. A seat in the lower west would be fine, but the mesage the club is giving out is that that it isn't a serious game, they are not trying to get a decent crowd and there won't be a decent aatmosphere. For personal reasons I'm notable to go on Saaturday, but not sure I would go even if I could.
