Stoke City are reported to being considering a £1m bid for Dale Stephens. The local press are, however, sceptical about whether he could make the step up from struggling Charlton to the Premiership: Stephens
Burnley and Wigan are also said to be interested.

Without being negative, this is the start of a plan, sell players that have value and replace with loans.Time will prove me correct,he is not going to spend lots of new money on transfers,he is taking over an annual loss of £6mn and is going to fund that by moving pieces around on his Football Empire Chess Board.
This is all going to end in tears this is not the owner we wanted.
Why did you not buy Charlton then?
I think we are fortunate to have any owner. Seems sensible to me to use loan players to keep us up this year, you rarely get good value in the January window.
Yeah lets be honest, we cant complain. We are struggling with no money and have done well to survive, now we have a new owner lets see what he does before we can judge
£1million for Dale Stephens represents daylight robbery and RD ought to bite Stoke's hand off before they come to their senses
Obviously DS won't cope in a higher division but that's for them to deal with
Would like to see what comments the first post would come out with if they were being negative.!!!
Give the new guy a chance. If Stoke want to pay £1m for someone that is not first on team sheet then I'm happy.
We do need some new players though, particularly ones that are happy to keep the ball.
Sir Chris has said he is happy with the new owners intentions. Richard Murray is a big Charlton man and is happy to stay on board and at least he has been put in that position by the new owner, rather than one of his "business associates".
These are people that have proved they have Charlton in their hearts and we have trusted them in the past. Let's carry on with that trust and give them all a chance. Getting on thier backs will only deflate the players and give the idoits more to mona about.
Let's be positive.
Lets be honest if we didnt have this new owner, our better and out of contract players this summer would of been off this january to raise the much needed monies - lets see what happens, theres more light at the end of the tunnel than there was a few weeks ago...
I expect the story is total nonsense. Leaving aside the strengths and weaknesses of Dale Stephens, why would Stoke want to pay £1million for a player who is out of contract in 6 months unless they were under serious competition? I recall that they took Glen Whelen from Wednesday a few years ago in the January window for a knock-down £200K or so.
Our priority, together with a decent on loan striker, must be to try and negotiate contract extensions with the few players of real value whose existing deals expire in June.
Mister negative again here we go.
A number of clubs are monitoring Charlton defender Michael Morrison's contract situation at The Valley.
Sky Sports understands several Championship sides and Scottish giants Celtic are keeping tabs on highy-rated centre back Morrison.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and as yet there has been no new offer of a new deal at Charlton.
The news has alerted a host of sides to Morrison's possible availability with the 25-year-old establishing himself as one of the best defenders outside the Premier League.
The former Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday man has already made over 300 appearances in his career and is vice-captain at Charlton.
Charlton are thought to be keen to keep Morrison, but could find their resolve tested this month as his suitors weigh up moves for the player.
