Tony Watt to join Charlton?

It is being reported that 20-year old striker Tony Watt is to leave the mother ship and join Charlton: New signing?

Admittedly his career has been stuttering in Belgium, but I still think he could be what we need.

Interesting report here on 'one of the most talented young Scottish players of his generation: Tony Watt

He could be great for us he's got bags of potential. Strong and quick and very young at 20 I think, and well loved at Celtic. He stated his admiration for his last coach at Liege, who guess what, got the sack! Needs to settle and build career. So maybe Roland upsetting him will have done us a favour.

Once upon a time and a very good time it was...there was a man who had a very large family. The man tried very hard to keep all of his family happy but he was very careful with his money and the youngest son was unhappy as he was always receiving his elder brothers' used clothing to wear.
Tony Watt could be good but is he yet another "hand me down " from the elder brother in the form of Standard Liege ?

Please god yes. Sorry but if you disagree JA at least it puts my mind at rest. Entitled to your opinion but I think you're wrong. Prefer L. Surez, he's not happy but bad attitude, bites the hand that feeds him.
As far as I can see this lad didn't have a problem until our mothership signed him. He did well and he was very popular with Celtic/Airdrie/Scottish fans and they were unhappy to see him go. Take a look at his record and his scoring clips he could be a great player. This is a boy of 20 who needs looking after to get his career on track and not be written off at 20 yrs old, that's crazy. I think our club will make the right choice on this one re; his temperament. BP doesn't need a flop it could cost him dearly and I'd trust his judgement over yours JA, after all he's brought Igor to our club.
If price right! If/if he signs, give him a chance you might get pleasant surprise.
And most importantly this is not your fantasy football, just plucking players out of thin air, JA, it could actually happen!

Perhaps given that he is a striker of a mode similar to that of BP himself it might be something that works here - history is full of strikers that only perform under certain managers.

The Daily Mail is reporting an initial loan with a view to a permanent move. If true that sounds like good business to me and not like an offload that won't work out.

im only going by what has been said of watt bad attitude and a problem player surely we could do more at bringing in players like mk players like ali and gregg name but a few than this bloke who has not performed since leaving celtic check reams comments on into the valley on the player

A very very good point Jonathan!!!!!! Only he's only 20 years old without a criminal record and he's not a convicted rapist. How very sensitive you must be to compare him with one. You don't even realise that you being offensive do you? He scored something like 7 goals in 15 games not for Liege but for the other club when he was on loan in Belgium. As I say I would trust the professional judgement of CAFC's management any day over and above you and your pals. So you get him in on loan and see, see. COYR!

watt problems has been well documented ok he hasnt got a criminal record as of yet but if he carries on with his bad boy attitude then he might as well have one!he really needs to now grow up and consontrate on football instead of off the field activities. On evans he has been kicked out at sheff united and is available ok hes a convicted scumbag but what about the likes of lee bowyer who had a criminal record when with us no one raised an eye brow did they same sort of thing? My point being hes hungry since his release from prison if we are looking at this type of player why not evans-now my question charlton fans say if he came to charlton how would you feel about it and would u give a player like evans a chance???

For the record, Bowyer's only criminal activity when with Charlton was failing a drugs test for smoking joints.
The rest of his activity happened after he left The Valley.

JA, I'm sure Lee Bowyer will be speaking to his solicitor about your allegations!
