Peeters scoffs at Bent rumours

Big Bob Peeters has scoffed at rumours that Darren Bent or Danny Graham might come on loan to The Valley. He says that he nothing about these reports himself. He also points out that the Addicks have a wages policy that does not permit them to bring in expensive players on loan: The rumour mill

Admittedly, sometimes bigger clubs will continue to pay part of the wage bill themselves. However, the rumour mill has got a bit out of control in these cases. It also seems that the good start to the season has inflated expectations among Charlton fans who before the season started would have been pleased to avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight.

Given he's at Aston Villa maybe he was watching Wolves as a potential loan move?

I'd tend to believe the watching Wolves story. There seems to be a pattern to acquisitions at the Valley this year and Bent doesn't fit well into it.
Remember also the old adage: never go back.

I've not been on this site long enough to get to know all the personalities but is JA Head of MI5? He seems to have spies everywhere. I cannot see any football or financial reason why Bent should come to Charlton at this stage of his career and we'd probably be disappointed with what we'd get if he did. He's 7 years older and somewhat heavier than when he was knocking them in regularly for us. Kentish Man is right: neither he nor Charlton should look to go back.

I'm not one for transfer/loan rumours, life's too short to pay attention to other people's flimsy vain attempts to get noticed or agents' damn lies to get a bigger payday. However IF (and it is a sizable if) DB has been to the training ground recently and was at the game on Tuesday, why would he? There can be very few staff left from his time, Jason Euell and who else? Did his 2 years with us leave such a mark that he now chooses to spend his leisure time here too? Unlikely. He might just want the chance to play (much) more often than lambert allows at Villa and after those transfer deals, signing on fees and years of mega PL wages he's happy to earn whatever a side might pay, it's not like he's ever gonna be short of money is it? If he wants to play for Charlton he can make it happen - the point about his body shape is valid but that's under his control too. DB + Igor would have the championship defenders copiously soiling themselves. Come on Darren you know you want to...

From my understanding of the rumours re darren bent i have been told by several fans over the past month or so hes been at the training ground and was in the stands vs wolves the other night-i did sugest about a month ago he has been spotted in around sparrows lane,he obviously trying get a loan deal done before the loan window finishes on the 30th nov.I know a few villa fans also who tell me hes not the same player you think he is when he was with us back in the prem glory days they tell me hes got a bad attitude and overweight also body language not 100 per cent when he plays either from what they say bent is simular to hasslebaink when we signed him -i do hope that this isnt true on bent.I think peeters can get the best out of him and get him up to full fitness we obviously have to do a deal with villa with them paying his salary as i heard hes on £75,000 a week!.
Bent if his head is right and he gets his attitude right he could be a big hit hes loved by charlton fans so i think this loan could work out well for both bent and villa.I am hoping the club is also scouting the free agents markets as they are some decent players to be snapped up i paticully like pennant and etherington even boumsong the x newcastle defender could do a good job even james mcfadden worth a bid.

I don't think Bob Peeters would cry wolf, if he says it is not true it isn't true

If Acworth does work for MI5, it's the best cover story I've ever seen (it is believed that are a few guys from across the river who are Charlton supporters). I seem to remember one who claimed to be called 'Brian'. I doubt whether MI stands for 'Multiple Idiots'.
