It's been rumoured all summer, but Woking keeper Ross Worner could be finally on his way to The Valley with negotiations currently under way between both clubs. The Cards' board rejected an initial four-figure fee - plus a similar amount to be paid in January - on Tuesday. But the Addicks have come back with an amended offer which Cards' chairman Shahid Azeem and his colleagues were discussing yesterday evening.
"Ross has his heart set on the move and we want him to follow his dream to play at the highest level but the deal has to right for Woking FC," said Azeem. "The initial offer was sprung upon us and it's only right that as a board of directors, we all sit down and discuss it. The amended offer has various clauses."
Boss Graham Baker had said this week that Worner's departure from Woking was a case of when, not if. Charlton seem determined to get their man, Phil Parkinson thinking the deal was done with Baker earlier this week, only for further negotiations to take place.
Worner is understood to have passed a medical at The Valley on Tuesday. It is thought that he may be able to command £800 a week.
