Mother ship may be sold

Roland may be about to sell Standard Liege, thus giving reassurance to fans who were worried about the financial security of the club: Mother Ship (Sorry about the overload of ads on this site). En Francais ici: Takeover

The offer is believed to be €50 million with the funds already available in the Rothschild Bank. However, Roland is holding out for €60m. The club should qualify for the Champions League next season as they are ten points clear at the top of the Pro League and unbeaten in fifteen games.

The money from any sale would then be available to invest in Charlton, hopefully!

....or Ujpest, or FC Carl Zeiss Jena, or K. Sint-Truidense, or AD Alcorcon....or maybe he'll buy another?

But these clubs don't have the possibility of getting into the Premier League where his investment could really pay off, even if he only sold the club on. He could buy another club, but remember that Liege is his local club (in terms of working home).

I think St Truiden is his local club, perhaps the only club he has any emotional attachment for -- although their supporter's might disagree.

Don`t be to harsh on Roland just yet. I think Charlton could be a challenge he may really enjoy , and then who knows.

I don't think I am too harsh on Roland. I think the summer will be the time to come a balanced assessment. Meanwhile, perhaps we shall learn more this evening, or perhaps not.
