Charlton still interested in Varney

Charlton are reported to be still interested in Luke Varney, alongside QPR, Bristol City having pulled out of the race: Varney

Not sure how keen I would be on this move. He has pace, but lacks shooting accuracy. But perhaps he could perform better at League 1 level.

Meanwhile, the South London Press has reported that Phil Parkinson has been quoted £1m for a League 2 striker. This presumably refers to Paul Benson from Dagenham and Redbridge.

There are also persistent rumours that we are going to sign Jon Fortune.

Don't think Benson is rated a £1m player Wyn, we would have lost interest long ago if that fee was quoted.

I suspect it was Rotherham's Adam Le Fondre.

From what I've seen LeFondre is a League 2 player who scores League 2 type goals. Not that we can afford anywhere close to 1 million in any case.

I wouldn't really welcome Varney's return. He probably would do better in League 1 but it just doesn't feel like a positive move for either party. Also, could we afford his wages? Assume he'd have to take a very big cut.

Paul Benson is actually a League One striker and wouldn't waste your time with Adam Le Fondra as he is an over weight centre forward with an attitude problem!
