The exodus continues

Frazer Richardson has joined Southampton in a deal worth £450,000 to Charlton. He meets a need for the Saints who have been without a right back since the end of the season.

In my view he was a very useful player who gave his all and was good at getting forward. Our loss is Southampton's gain. Needs must.

The sale of Nicky Bailey to Boro should be completed in a day or two once the relevant staff there are back from South Africa.

All this demonstrates is that the penalty for administration should be relegation rather than a points deduction. The present system just allows clubs such as Southampton to in effect bid up players wages and transfer fees which are largely to blame for the the problems most clubs are experiencing
