Curbs: I'm ready to talk

Alan Curbishley has said that he is prepared to talk to Charlton about a return to The Valley, but admits that the club probably already has someone lined up: Back to the future

Guy Luzon continues to be the name in the frame. According to some reports, the club has already talked to him and a decision could be announced within 48 hours. However, José Riga has also expressed his wish to return to The Valley, having turned down a number of jobs in Belgium: Candidates

So Curbs finally wants to come back, when he realised there was no other job out there for him.

Curbs as a director of football, he knows this league inside out. Wasn't that his position for a brief spell at Fulham? and don't we need one now that we don't employ managers?

That's fantastic news, really hope to get Curbishley back! Best Charlton manager ever! Please no more useless foreign managers!!

That's a bit unfair he got pissed off with no financial backing after 15 years of being the most successful manager the club has ever had. Don't blame him for thinking he could do better elsewhere. He doesn't want to work outside London and wasn't given much of a chance at both West Ham and Fulham.

Our club needs SOMEONE who knows the league and ENGLISH FOOTBALL guiding it, especially if we have foreign coaches.

Curbs as Director of Football ??? Not a chance. That position is already occupied by Roland !

OH but it's not going to happen so don't your hopes up!

Even Roland must see IN THE END that he's not up to the job. Someone have a word!

Curbs, in his previous incarnation, had total control over football matters. This would not be the case now so it ain't going to happen

Not Curbs please! My son gave up watching football as Curbs started to get past his sell by date and it was the most boring football to watch. As he told my wife at the time, I don't want to go anymore as its like watching paint dry and unfortunately I had to agree with him!
We also don't want another Liege cast off, lets get Riga back, he got us playing good football and out of the mire, when all looked lost!

I have a little sympathy for RD in that he has put more into the club than many people appreciate but is going to struggle to compete with the teams with larger budgets, especially with the changes to FFP. However, sympathy is tempered by his treatment of managers. If he's not careful he'll be seen as another Cellino and we won't attract anyone with any semblance of self respect. Curbs should steer well clear. In other circumstances I'd certainly welcome him back.

Riga as coach and Curbs as Director of would be my 1st choice. Different roles, different skills, different experience.

"its like watching paint dry"??!! - top quality paint though, premier league paint. Thank the lord we ended that nonsense, by realising the man had taken as far as he could - cos we were so obviously heading for European glory - and dowie, reed, pardew, etc etc would help us fulfil our potential!!!

I am assuming that the honor of working for Charlton would be sufficient to accept a contract at RD's likely salary levels.
And are we sure he has what it takes to get back Into the rough and tumble of the Championship after so many years out of management?

Two issues that may surface if Curbs and Katrien get together over a McDonald's

Curbs on 18 month contract as DoF to guide and support a younger man.

I doubt RD would want to pay want Curbs would be looking for. RD wants financial stability - hence, the network for players and if possible coaches.

He was asked the question and he was being polite. RD can't afford Curbs.

Regardless of managers and coaches and money and budgets we will f**k up this transfer window now through being leaderless and clueless. Unless the decisions have already been made, it's all very confusing.

It seems like a repeat of the way that A. Delort was allowed to bugger up the the last one. It would be nice to see some competent professionals running the club.

Curbs?!?! FFS!!
His salary expectations are wildly different from Roly's
Curbs says himself an experienced championship manager is needed - he hasn't done that (or much else)since 2000, Fulham's 2014 farce obviously doesn't count.
He left WetSpam because of interference so would he work for arch meddler Roly Douchebag? Would be quite the U-turn if he did.
Risibly vacuous speculation.
The next 'head coach' will be the next cab off RD's barely roadworthy rank

If you read his own book Curbs wasn't "pissed off with no financial backing..." so don't start all that revisionist BS
