Mid-season report on Charlton

A mid-season report from Sports Mole give us a B- grade, but is relatively optimistic about our prospects: Mid-Season Report

A lot now depends on whether Tony Watt can overcome the problems that have blighted his career and make a fresh start by scoring some badly needed goals for us.

One Addick commented, 'Watt may be another Francis Jeffers who ended up playing for 13 different sides and apart from his early promise with Everton -his first professional club - he never scored more than 5 goals for any of the other dozen clubs he took up with. I would like to think that Watt being 2 years younger than when Jeffers joined us will realise that he can turn around his career if he really wants to and can fulfil his early promise because being at your 5th club when you are still just 21 is not a great start.'

Until I have seen him play, I remain hopeful.

Only 21 and dumped from SL after a few games.
Annual January shuffling of pack to keep the fans quiet. Prefer the one club one owner model myself.

From reports of him watt was not interested while in leige and wanted a return to english football,he has problems which has well documented i just hope he can prove me and everyone whos knocking him wrong by performing on the pitch that what matters ,now if i was his coach i be telling him just to do that.

On strikers we are looking at Dextor Blackstock in advance talks from notts forrest and smith at bristol city bp was in the stands at gillingham and expect a 800k bid in for him also linked thomas at palace

JA whilst I know that a journalist never reveals his sources, could you give us a very general idea of where you have picked up these snippets of information? By the way, Matt Smith is on loan at Bristol City from Fulham.

Watt has never played in English football. He is young, inexperienced and been let go by Celtic and SL in a matter of months with questions over his attitude. He's part of the RD merrygoround.

JA's sources, The Daily Planet, Fantasy Football Weekly, Homer's Oddity and his befuddled half brain? Like all these things there's an element of truth in em. Sherwood was at the valley, BP was at Gills, just add speculation and he's bound to be right one day. A broken record I'm afraid, Yawn!

It's not great at the moment, but if we can use this window to help us address quite a few problems, it could still turn out to be ok. Peeters has REQUESTED and put his faith in Watt. Ok I would have preferred a loan first but Peeters has obviously had a good look at him and has asked for supporters patience. B&HA, a big big match. COYA.

Wyn, on a slightly different but related tack, I believe I now owe you a bottle of wine from a bet a while back. Let me know your preference(s) and I can see what is in my consortium locker to dump on you/sorry, I can put my network into action to unearth a gem.

How full is your glass?
Personally I would rather be taking a risk with T Watt, than sticking with what we've got i.e. a no money to sign anyone scenario. We've been there and done that for years. Despite our poor run we have reasons for slight optimism. In my opinion supporters of broken clubs like Blackpool and Millwall have no reasons. Despite not being at all convinced by RD's network experience, it's a lot better than the still unsold club scenario and relegation. We are not a broken club, just not working very well at the mo. my sources are quite reliable someone said yesterday that smith is on 18k a week at Fulham I know I made an error on that lol

Thanks, JA. I wasn't suggesting otherwise. I just wondered if they were club officials, press or agents.

...And you still don't know which area they come from. I would like to believe too, perhaps you could provide some examples of reliability in terms of some past predictions that have come to pass JA.
I thought Steve Cotterill said yesterday that, B Rovers were very confident of extending M Smith's loan. Although I know of no reason why BP shouldn't be interested in him.
