Brakes accelerate

Leamington won 2-0 at Bedford Town last night to go 5th in the Zamaretto Premier League. The scoreline could have been bigger if it had not been for some excellent saves by the Bedford keeper. A large proportion of the crowd of 375 were Leamington fans.

Brakes now face a big test at home to Chippenham Town on Saturday and once again we expect to be the only Charlton blog covering this match.

Do Bedford still have the floodlights they bought from Charlton back in the early sixties?

The old club, which had some giant killing exploits, was wound up in 1982. It was re-formed in 1989, initially playing on a council pitch, and is probably still punching below its weight given the size of the town and its relative prosperity (albeit it is within easy travelling distance of London, the Bloke Behind Me lives in Bedfordshire). Unfortunately, the club's nickname is 'The Eagels'.

I meant Eagles, but they have no known connections with Palace.

I used to go past on the train up to Kettering most Tuesday's in the late 70's/early 80's and always looked for the pylons as we sped through...
