No money to bring in players

Charlton can only afford to bring in or consolidate loans during the transfer window, there is no money to sign players: Cash

We have effectively known this for some time. Perhaps the real challenge, as assistant boss Tim Breacker has pointed out, is to hang on to our existing players: Stars

I think that we will see a relatively subdued transfer market in which valuations will often be below what clubs expect. Certainly, any club hoping to solve financial problems by selling players may have a nasty shock. Hopefully, we can retain our existing squad with the loan signings and this should at least give us a chance of promotion.

If we don't succeed, then the better players will have to be sold in the summer when it might be possible to get a better price. The alternative would be administration, but a 10 point penalty would inhibit any promotion push.

It really feels like this season is a "do or die" season. I do believe that in Phil Parkinson we have a very decent manager, in my opinion a new "Curbs". He seems to be able motivate players and is not afraid of bringing on young and hungry players in to the team.As there is no money to buy let us just hope that we can keep this squad intact.

Looks like Sam is on his way to Boro.Another January nightmare?

that would be a nightmare, but I've heard nothing of it. Whilst I think both Racon and Shelvey are good players the loss of either wouldn't bring down our promotion challenge. Lloyd Sam is a player we simply can't afford to lose this season and I'm sure Parky knows that. I don't think it's that likely that we'll sell anyone (apart from possibly one of the two above and moutakil) nor will we bring in anyone outside of mooney and akpo. The challenge for us to keep our best players is probably an easier one than it is for Norwich or Leeds.
