The talk at this afternoon's A46 derby between Gloucester City and Leamington was all about the absence of star striker Josh March. With ten years at the helm at Leamington, Paul Holleran's success at developing players is attracting increasing attention from Football League clubs.
Former PE primary school teacher Colby Bishop has been banging in the goals for Accrington since he joined them from Leamington in the summer. Playing alongside him is Courtney Baker-Richardson, formerly at the Brakes, but on loan from Swansea City.
When March was recruited from Alvechurch in the summer, he was put under contract, such was his potential. This means that Accrington will have to pay a fee plus agree to a sell on clause of 25 per cent, but with a Championship club showing interest, it was felt they could not hesitate. The deal has yet to be confirmed, however. The latest report is that Forest Green Rovers have joined the bidding.
