Charlton defends itself over Iran friendly

Charlton press man Matt Wright has defended the club over its failure to play a friendly with Iran, saying it was not possible for logistical reasons, a match with Gibraltar being arranged instead. He also said that the club will respond to any probe by Fifa. Full story here:
Iran

The statements by the former ambassador to Iran are diplomatically evasive. It is true that governments do not tell sports federations what to do, but they often have a quiet word in their ear.

Perhaps Amdy Faye could be brought in to help resolve this issue. According to the report on the official web site on the victory over Dulwich Hamlet, he is now a 'senior statesman' of the club. I suppose that is one way of describing his contribution.
