Honours even at Harbury Lane

We arrived half an hour before kick off today at the New Windmill Ground for the first pre-season friendly match of the new campaign between Leamington and Newport County, but all the programmes had already been bought by the sizeable away contingent in the crowd of 415.

In very blustery conditions, it was an even contest for most of the first half. With five new players in the team, Brakes were getting used to each other. Josh Blake was playing at the back, although he switched to the front later on.

Just before half time, County won a free kick and scored with a bullet header that could not be stopped by Mozza in the home goal.

Brakes struggled to get back into the game in the second half and they thought it was all over. Indeed, local radio station Touch FM clearly did as they announced the game as a 0-1 defeat. However, on the 88th minute former Reading ace Guy Sanders equalised for Brakes with a well taken header.

Talking of pre-season friendlies, I learn from my friends at Radio Scilly that there will be one at Garrison Field at 10.30 a.m. tomorrow when the Garrison Gunners take on the Woolpack Wanderers - as they will for the rest of the season.
