Two weeks of Bent equals one year for whole team

Two weeks of Marcus Bent's salary would cover the compensation for Leamington's squad for a whole year. The club's accounts for 2006-7 show that players' 'travel expenses' amounted to £53,587 which was just about the equivalent of the £54,079 match receipts and programme sales. On a turnover of £170,405, the net profit was £4,166. This was down from £46,730 the previous year but takings in that period were boosted by the FA Cup run.

The annual meeting, preceded by an extraordinary meeting with lawyers in attendance, was described as 'lively' on the club's web site, something of an understatement in my view.
