Marcus Bent has achieved his ambition of becoming acquainted with the night spots of Birmingham. Birmingham City today completed the signing of striker Marcus Bent, Charlton confirmed this afternoon.
The forward has moved to the West Midlands in a deal that could be worth in excess of £1m to the Addicks, and has signed a three-year contract at St Andrews. Note 'could be worth in excess of'. Presumably this means it is dependent on appearances or, heaven forbid, goals.
Anyway, he is off Charlton's books. There were fears when he turned down the Cardiff offer that we would be stuck with him.

The panic of yesterday is over. I can now relax and the squad return from Spain as we are unlikely to sign anyone until Pards is back in the country.
O Happy days. What wonderful, wonderful news. I do however, sincerely hope that we're not supplementing his wages in any way shape or form. And just to throw another downer on what should be a joyous day of celebrations, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Amdy Faye on the same wages? - and he's still here isn't he. Although everything about M. Bent sucked, you always thought someone would panic buy him. Monsieur Faye is another conundrum altogether. Who, in the known football hemisphere do you think will relieve us of his leeching ???
Regarding Mr faye I cannot understand how come Dowie has not signed him with all the dosh he has. After all he told us what a great player he was when he wasted all our millions
dpfn
Mr Bent has left the Stadium. Now only that other charm merchant Faye
to out.
Guys
At the current rate , I think my pre-season prediction of Amdy Faye playing at centre half will come true ..Bougherra on his way now
Lets hope football transfers are not covered by the Sales of Goods Act otherwise he'd probably be returned as "not fit for purpose" in a few months time.
