Charlton retain Crown Berger cup

Charlton retained the Crown Berger Cup last night with a 1-0 victory over Welling United that was more comfortable than the scoreline suggested. Overr 2,000 turned out in very wet conditions. Luke Varney scored the winning goal.

Apparently, Hudson was like a rock at the back. This is encouraging as central defence is one area that gives me concern. Fleetwood was quite impressive, but is knocked off the ball too easily.

Now it's on to Ebbsfleet. For some time Charlton seem to have been building a team second to none at Conference level, so we shall see.

Reports are circulating that Mark Robson has left the club, but we have no confirmation of them, although the story is being carried on Kent Online. He was not at the pre-season at friendlies at Welling or Bromley.

Have we ever lost the Crown Berger Cup?

When Dowie was in charge we managed to lose thanks to a spectacular Simon Walton own goal. Says it all really.
